Laura is an ecologist with a special interest in birds. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in environmental and conservation science from the University of the West Indies. She has years of experience conducting environmental assessments and gathering ecological data.
She also spent several years researching and raising awareness of the illegal wildlife trade which began with the Conservation Leadership in the Caribbean programme (CLiC). She volunteers and sits on the Management Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Field Naturalists’ Club (TTFNC).
With the support of Birds Caribbean and the TTFNC, she is able to conduct the Caribbean Waterbird Census in her country of Trinidad and Tobago. She enjoys teaching Zumba classes and to use that platform to educate people about birds and the environment.
Laura hopes to see more people in the Caribbean get involved in bird conservation and are proud of all the fascinating birds throughout the Caribbean.
